1. Riding holidays around the castle

Discover the region around the Breuberg castle booking these farm-based riding holidays. The Breuberg castle is one of the best conserved castles in Mid / Southern Germany and on your rides through valleys and forests of the Odenwald you will every now and then be able to see this castle, which is located high over the Mümling valley!

Non riding companions have the possibility to join the riders on these holidays enjoying their days driving comfortably in a covered waggon or a carriage. Certainly riders and drivers separate oftentimes - while the riders prefer cantering over grassland and stubble fiels or discovering small paths in the forest, the carriage drivers stay on good dirt roads or forest tracks and enjoy the region at a calm pace. At the next stop we meet each other again and chat about everyones' experiences!

Sample itinerary*:

Day 1:
Arrival for a get together dinner with your hosts and the other riders. Afterwards we head to our rooms at the farm or in a holiday flat nearby.

Day 2:
After an ample breakfast we start our ride through the Mümling valley. We chose your horse - depending on your riding experience - from our assorted group: we have horses from calm Haflinger horses to arab horses. We ride along forested hills on comfortable forest paths until we reach a farm with restaurant, where riders and horses have their well deserved rest and the possibility to get some good food. We also meet our carriage drivers again, who took a different road for arriving at this farm. The way back leads us over the hills with beautiful distant views over the Odenwald and to the Breuberg castle. Finally we get back to the valley and to our farm.

Day 3:
Our destination today is an old roman estate. We learn about the settlement of the Odenwald 2000 years ago. Foundation walls - in parts restored - parts of buildings covered from the forest let us imagine the remnants of this estate. Afterwards we ride back to our farm following winding roads.
In the evening we crest the Breuberg hill either on horseback or comfortably in our carriage and visit the beautiful Breuberg castle. Afterwards we walk back to our farm in the dark.

Day 4:
Our ride leads us to the Main valley today. In the house of the "friends of nature" with a beautiful view over the vineyards we have the possibility to have lunch. On soft paths we head back to our farm riding along the limes.

Day 5:
After breakfast you start your journey home.
